With a history spanning over 100 years, Stevenson is well respected as an industry leader in running high performing quarries and concrete plants. Safety underpins everything we do at Stevenson.
We are currently looking to appoint an EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Champion to work in our Concrete division in Penrose. The EHS Champion is our health and safety “go to” person on the front line. The position is responsible for:
- Recording incidents and following up on corrective actions
- Inducting new staff and contractors
- Ensuring the right information (alerts, procedures, hazard notifications etc) is distributed to the right people
- Administration of health and safety paperwork and records
- Facilitating EHS meetings and talking minutes
- A variety of EHS project work
In Stevenson, the EHS Champions also have an operational component to their role. We find that this embeds them in the frontline of the business and makes EHS very visible and accessible in the business. The nature of the operational component will vary depending on the person’s skill set.
The position reports to the Concrete Operations Manager and has a dotted line to the Senior EHS Advisor.
The ideal candidate will be a pragmatic thinker with excellent communication skills (both written and spoken). A working knowledge of health and safety will be required and it is preferable that you have successfully completed some formal health and safety units or qualifications. You will be capable of persuading people to do the right thing by talking with staff rather than at them. You will need to be comfortable working with MS Office. And you’ll need a full driver’s license.
We offer a competitive remuneration package including fully subsidised health insurance and 4% Kiwisaver contributions. Applicants will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical examination including drug and alcohol screening.
Only candidates who are currently residing in New Zealand and are available for a face to face interview will be considered. You must have the right to work legally in New Zealand.
