Stevenson has a long proud history in the New Zealand coal mining industry, which began in 1948 at Kopuku Mine (since renamed Kopako). We became involved in the overburden stripping operation, which soon developed into the largest of its kind in the country.
Our involvement in the industry continued with Glencoal Energy in the mines at Kopako, Renown, and Pirongia. In more recent years we have completed projects in Ohai, Coaldale and Macraes Mine in Otago.
Stevenson Mining took over Operations for Rotowaro Mine, West of Huntly, in 2011.
We apply a high standard of resource extraction, processing, health and safety and environmental methodologies to all of our projects. Our track record speaks for itself – several decades of being reliable and responsible operators, completing projects on time and within budget.
Headed by a Chief Executive Mike Coleman, Stevenson Mining boasts a wealth of experience and knowledge. The Stevenson Mining management team includes Finance, Legal, Communications, EHS and HR specialists.
