The CCNZ CablePrice National Excavator Operator Competition was held in March at Manfeild Park, Feilding. Michael (Mouse) Brown from Tauhei quarry used a 13-tonne digger to scoop and serve ice cream to the young spectators, earning him first place in the event, and second place overall.

After his success in winning the Waikato regional competition, Michael was one of thirteen finalists competing for the national awards. “I had a really good day competing and I’m proud of what I achieved on the challenging course, it’s a bit different to digging rock,” says Michael.
