History
Stevenson has a long-standing history in the Auckland region. In 1912, brothers William and Jim worked alongside their father at his modest drainage business. These three pioneers would soon transform their small business into the large organisation that Stevenson is today. W. Stevenson & Sons started out with picks, shovels, a few wheelbarrows and a Model-T Ford. With persistence, dedication, and determination Stevenson & Sons soon became one of the forerunners in the industry.
Our leadership
The leadership team at Stevenson are a group of experienced and knowledgeable industry forerunners. We have been involved in the aggregates and concrete sector for decades which has given us valuable industry insight. Our team are committed innovators who are always working on new technologies and processes to improve our products while still taking care of our environment.
Careers
Stevenson is a thriving and successful business who are part of the large infrastructure company Fulton Hogan. We continue to be a great place to work offering many career opportunities, including leadership programmes, cadetships, Māori leadership programmes, apprenticeships and A & B grade mining and quarry certificates. We are technology focused and are excited about the future of quarrying.
Technology
We are a progressive group with a focus on the latest technology in our industry. We believe in quarrying for the future, and are committed to providing the best solutions we can for our customers through innovation such as database decision making. Here at Stevenson we are constantly innovating to help take care of the environment, from iStrada paperless ticketing to trialling the world’s first commercial hybrid excavator.
Environment
We make it a priority to reduce our impact on the environment. We focus on new technologies and processes so we can provide the best quality solutions for our customers and the environment. Because we’re determined to reduce our carbon emissions, we’re implementing a variety of carbon-decreasing initiatives, including bringing CarbonCure technology to the New Zealand market.
Our people understand how their work can impact the environment. We monitor our activities and track their performance against our environmental management plans.
Community
Our founder Sir William was a true philanthropist who cared about community and people. He was an incredibly generous donor to many charities and organisations. Today Stevenson carries on his legacy through sporting sponsorship grants, medical research, education and improving and enriching lives through community projects. Stevenson continues to be a great place to work, and good neighbours to have in the local community.
Safety
We create great products that are manufactured in a safe way. “Living Safely” is our tagline. Our number one goal is that everyone who comes to work goes home safely with no life-changing injury. As a team we are all responsible for our health and safety, so we empower our staff to be proactive and to pull the pin on risk. Our annual Stevenson Safety Day equips our teams with knowledge on safety, nutrition, health and wellbeing. Stevenson are proud supporters of the free counselling initiative Gumboot Friday.
