Clevedon Quarry Expansion Enters Fast-Track Process

Posted on

The proposed expansion of Stevenson Aggregates’ Clevedon Quarry has been accepted for referral under the Government’s Fast-track Approvals Act, moving the project into the next stage of assessment.

The project aims to increase the quarry’s aggregate resource from 60 million tonnes to approximately 150 million tonnes, helping meet Auckland’s future demand for construction materials. The expansion will be developed in stages over the next 50 years while maintaining the current consented annual extraction limit of 3 million tonnes.

Stevenson says the proposal will support the supply of aggregate needed for housing, infrastructure, and transport projects across the region, without increasing existing truck movement limits to and from the site.

If approved, the expanded quarry will play an important role in supporting Auckland’s long-term growth and infrastructure development.
