We have a great opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join us at Stevenson based at Penrose, Auckland.
About the role?
As an Occupational Health Nurse you’ll ensure the effective delivery of occupational health services to all Stevenson employees, across all our regions. You will be responsible for the development and administration of efficient and professional operations of occupational health services to ensure staff have the necessary tools and education to ensure a healthy work life balance. You will help identify the health risks to workers and monitor the workers’ health to ensure controls are working. Our values will drive everything you do.
You play a key role in providing appropriate health assessments, monitoring and safety advice with the aim of reducing the impact of occupational injury, illness and disease and actively promoting a healthy and safe workplace.
In addition to the above you will provide:
Occupational Health
You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive Occupational Health programme; including pre-employment medicals, drug & alcohol testing, annual health monitoring for all workers, risk-based health assessments, supporting workers with personal health issues and return to work programmes. You will also implement health or medical surveillance when necessary, ensuring workers are medically fit to undertake the role required
Injury Management
Stevenson is an Accredited Employer so you will have an active role in supporting both work and non-work injuries, working closely with our ACC corporate team. You will also support our early intervention programmes, ensuring our workers are able to receive prompt assistance when required. A good understanding of health services and external services available for injury management is essential.
Wellbeing
You will champion the Stevenson wellbeing programme, supporting local and national initiatives, recognising health trends within the business and developing programmes to support a happier, healthier workplace & workers.
To excel in this role, you will be a registered Nurse who has a minimum of 2 years experience in Occupational Health and Safety delivery along with a relevant tertiary qualification and a current practising certificate.
You’ll be a confident practitioner with considerable experience in workplace health assessment and the delivery of health monitoring and the promotion of new health initiatives and a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will also have a sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Registered Nurse with Practising Certificate with at least two years
- Holds indemnity insurance
- A current NZ Class 1 driver licence
- A current First Aid certificate
- Sound working knowledge of respiratory hazards & silicosis is beneficial
- Previous experience of working in an occupational health role, preferably in a similar industry
- Occupational hygiene background would be beneficial
- Working knowledge of ACC & the Accredited Employer programme
This role will be primary based in our Penrose site but you will also be required to travel to other sites in the greater Auckland region, Waikato & Bay of Plenty.
