Senior Laboratory Technician

Who are we looking for?
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Laboratory Technician to join us in our Drury site. The successful person will be an experienced Senior Laboratory Technician who is passionate about quality and precision in materials testing. You will bring a minimum of three years hands on experience in a laboratory setting ideally within the construction or civil engineering industry, your technical expertise will allow you to confidently carry out a range of field and laboratory tests ensuring full compliance with IANZ.

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification and have a solid understanding of quality control systems. You will be well versed in calibration practises, test method standards and safety protocols. Strong attention to detail, accurate record keeping and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. You will be someone who shows initiative takes pride in their work and supports continuous improvement in the lab.

Your main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Testing and recording test data for all samples by clients or collected in the field, or as delegated to by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Promote teamwork and productivity.
  • Ensure that monthly laboratory calibrations allocated are completed within the required timeframe.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy workplace. Ensure yourself and co-workers are following correct and safe work practises as detailed in Laboratory JHA’s and Safe Operating Procedures. Carry out and attend regular toolbox meetings, document and follow upon issues and Hazards identified.
  • Ensure that all incidents and accidents are recorded and investigated.

What we need from you:

  • 3 years hands on experience laboratory experience in New Zealand
  • Construction Materials Knowledge
  • Mechanical Testing Knowledge
  • IANZ or Quality Control Knowledge
  • 1 Years Minimum Work Experience in Similar Role
  • Civil Engineering Contracting or Consulting
  • Tertiary Civil Engineering Qualification (Completed or Started)
  • Follows Environment, Health and Safety Rules and Procedures
  • Ability to perform a majority of tests within the laboratory
